How to get to Heraklion

By air from Athens, Rhodes, Santorini, Mykonos and from many cities in Europe. Heraklion's airport is about 5 km (3 miles) east of the city, along the coast. Major car-rental companies have desks at the airport.

A taxi to Heraklion costs about 6 Euro, and the public bus is 1 Euro.

By boat: The Island has daily connections to Athens (Piraeus Port) all year round, and during the summer to other islands such as Santorini, Mykonos, Tinos and Paros.

How to get to Chania

You can travel to Chania either by choosing one of the many flights, which are scheduled daily to Chania, the flight from Athens is 50 minutes.

Or alternatively take the boat from Piraeus portdirectly to the port of Chania, Souda.

The prefecture of Chania is the western most division of the island of Crete covering an area of 2376 square km and with a population of 150,387 residents (census 2001).

The prefecture of Rethymnon forms its eastern border while the warm waters of the Mediterranean, the Cretan Sea on the north and the Libyan Sea on the south, lap a remaining area of 350 square km of seashore on its three other sides.
