Rethymnon North Coast Beaches

There are so many beaches on the north coach of Rethymnon that is hard to decide, which will fit you better. Help is here:

Bali Beach
Bali is nested in the surrounding mountains of the bay of Bali in front of the homonymous coastal village, some 34 km east of Rethymnon. The sandy beach is well organized and protected from the north winds. In the vicinity there are numerous small inlets with sand or pebbles.

Episkopi Beach
Episkopi is some 12 km west of Rethymnon, just off the National Road toChania. A kilometer long, sandy beach, partly organized and affected by the north winds. There are some parts with no facilities at all, just offering calmness and crystal clear sea. Those who like this kind of beach should go to the part that starts at Petres and ends at the junction to the village of Episkopi.

Gerani Beach
Gerani is some 6 km west of Rethymnon, just off the National Road to Chania. A quiet, pebbly beach; not organized within a small cove and good for snorkeling.

Geropotamos Beach
Geropotamos is some 20 km east of Rethymnon, just off the National Road to Heraklion, beneath the Geropotamos Bridge; a sandy and partly pebbly beach, affected by the north winds and not very organized.

Kavros Beach
Kavros is some 16 km west of Rethymnon, just off the National Road to Chania. A wonderful sandy beach, not very organized and affected by the north winds.

Missiria Beach
Missiria is some 3 km east of Rethymnon, just off the old National Road to Heraklion; a long sandy beach, fairly organized and affected north winds.

from Rethymnon by regular public buses, but also on foot (some 30 minutes walk)
Panormo Beach
Panormo is some 22 km east of Rethymnon, just off the National Road toHeraklion, in front of the homonymous village; a sandy beach, well organized and affected by the north winds. Apart from the main beach, there are also a few coves with pebbles which are not organized and less crowded. They are accessible via a dirt track leading to the west.

Perivolia Beach
Perivolia is some 2 km east of Rethymnon. It is in fact part of the long sandy beach of Rethymnon; a well organized beach, affected by the north winds.

Platanias Beach
Platanias is some 4 km east of Rethymnon; a sandy beach, well organized and affected by the north winds.

Rethymnon Beach
Rethymnon City Beach is a very well organized, over 20 km long sandy beach, stretching from the city in an easterly direction towards the areas of Perivolia, Platanias, Adelianos Kampos and Skaleta. Being within the city, it gets quite crowded in summer, however, westwards there are some parts with less people.
