In the months of May and June the water level can be chest high in some parts of the gorge, therefore you need equipment for a safe journey through.

A breathtaking view over the whole gorge can be admired from half way up on a higher plateau. The gorge is steeped in rich vegetation and in its walls there are numerous caves with impressive stalactites and stalagmites.

The cave of Agios Antonios with the homonymous church is near the village of Patsos; a lovely village where you can relax and enjoy an excellent meal or a refreshing drink in one of the traditional cafes.

The walk through the gorge is fairly easy and takes about 3 hours.
