Ag. Ioannis - a long and wide beach in the central part of the north coast of Gavdos. Nestled on its western side against the hill with a small church named after the patron of this place with an unforgettable view of the nearest islet of Gavdopoula and mountainous Crete.

The steep, rocky, hardly accessible but extremely picturesque western coast of Gavdos, stretches for about 10 km and harbors exceptional beaches that can only be reached by boat. The landscape on this part of the island changes permanently. Amazing little beaches appear and disappear every year.

Gavdos is Greece’s southernmost island and the southernmost point in Europe is the headland Tripiti (north 34°48'07" east 24°07'35"), which presents a beautiful composition of arcades diving into the sea.
